Home to around 56,338 residents, this remarkable county is home to abundant natural beauty, recreational opportunities and sites of cultural and historic significance. Originally formed from a portion of Berkeley County in 1801, Jefferson County is composed of 212 square miles, 2 of which are water. This remarkable small community was named for Keyes Ferry, which operated in the area in the 18th and 19th centuries. Keyes Ferry Acres, which can be accessed via County Route 32, is home to Shenanwood, Wide River Farm and Harpers Ferry Campsites.
